Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Scope
This policy describes the current WeatherDemocratic Republic of the Congo application. The application has no account registration, advertising trackers, payment processing or personal-profile database.
Location and searches
When you search, your search text is sent to our server and forwarded to Open-Meteo’s geocoding service. When you select “Use my location,” your browser requests permission before obtaining your coordinates. Those coordinates are sent to our server and Open-Meteo to retrieve a forecast. You can decline permission and search for a city instead.
Storage on your device
The application uses local storage keys weather-place and weather-unit to remember your selected location, including coordinates, and temperature unit. These remain until replaced or cleared. Clear this site’s browser data to remove them, especially on a shared device. The application does not set tracking cookies.
Server processing and logs
Forecast and search responses are held temporarily in an in-memory server cache with a ten-minute validity period. Entries may remain in memory until overwritten, the cache is cleared, or the service restarts. Requests can also appear in application and hosting access logs, including IP address, request path, search text or coordinates in query strings, and time. Log retention depends on the hosting configuration; this policy does not promise a fixed deletion period.
External providers
Weather and geocoding requests are forwarded by our server to Open-Meteo. Your browser directly requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap and Leaflet assets from unpkg; these providers receive connection information such as your IP address. Map tile requests can indicate the map area viewed. Your browser or device location service may process location information under its own terms. External processing may occur outside Democratic Republic of the Congo.
See Open-Meteo’s terms and privacy information, the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy, and unpkg.
Your choices and requests
You can revoke location permission through browser settings, clear local storage, or stop using the service. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information and raise privacy concerns. For assistance, use the project support link below; never post precise location, identification documents or other private information in a public issue. An authenticated private request channel and operator identity should be confirmed before providing sensitive information.
Policy updates
This policy must be reviewed when hosting practices, analytics, accounts or providers change. The date above identifies this version.
